The Ottawa chapter spent the early part of 2001 working on the content for 11 new wreck plaques, with input from SOS 1000 Islands. These plaques are similar to the replacement plaque we deployed on the Conestoga in the Fall of 2000. They are laser engraved on the reverse side of a piece of white and clear plastic and then painted red on the back, creating a white background with red lettering. The plastic plaque is then set into a rebar reinforced cement block and held below the surface of the cement with stainless steel carriage bolts. See our list of sponsors below who have our thanks for their donations that helped with this, and other projects. The plaques are now on the following wrecks: Eastcliffe Hall, Wee Hawk, Fleur de Marie, Prescott Anchorage Schooner (Loblaws NoName), Red Pine Bay Wreck, Muscallonge, Robert Gaskin, Keystrom, Daryaw, and the Kingshorn. The plaques have a smooth top surface, (making them easy to clean), and at 100 kilos+ per plaque and with chains for attachment, we are hoping that they will be enjoyed for many years.
