Future / Proposed projects

Members are encouraged to submit projects ideas (including a description) to the executive and will be voted on at the end of every year for the following year.

Assist lines at the Conestoga

In order to preserve the Conestoga wreck, we would like to install a swim assist line so that divers can swim against the current using the line. This will avoid divers from pulling themselves against the current using the structure of the wreck. We could ask the township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal for a grant to help us pay for this project. Since this is a popular wreck, especially among beginner divers, it will raise awareness of Low Impact Diving to many divers.

Land Plaque for Guindon Park

We could produce a land plaque for the Guindon Park describing the various structures / wrecks in the bay. (Milles Roches Power House, Belly Dumper, Paper factory, Lock 20, mystery wreck, Sheik Island Weir….) This plaque would be in a form of a map with approximate location of the points of interest with a brief description.

Land Plaque for the Bruce

One of the members has pointed out that since we are from Ottawa that we should try doing some projects in Ottawa. A land plaque could be produced for the wreck of the Bruce. We could ask the city of Ottawa for a grant to produce the plaque. Luc Lafontaine already talked to the manager of the Ottawa Rowing Club and currently seeking approval from the board of the club.

New Buoy for the Weir (Sheik Island) near Milles Roches Power House

In order to support/promote "Dive the Lost Villages" we would like to install a new buoy at the Sheik Island Weir. This will help entice dive charters and divers to dive the Lost Villages.

New Buoy for Lock 20

In order to support/promote "Dive the Lost Villages" we would like to install a new buoy at the Lock 20. This will help entice dive charters and divers to dive the Lost villages.

Map of the Lost Villages dive sites including wreck between Prescott and Cornwall

In order to support/promote "Dive the Lost Villages" we would like to produce a map of dive sites located between Prescott and Cornwall. This map would be similar to the existing map produced for the region between Cardinal in the St. Lawrence River to Point Traverse on Lake Ontario.

Rothesay u/w plaque

The underwater plaque for the Rohesay is getting worn out and will need to be replaced in the near future.
